1928 - 2009
Wilburn L. Moore, 80, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his home near Stanton. He was born October 23, 1928 in Alapaha, Georgia to the late Jesse and Estelle Swilley Moore. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Orburn J. Moore and J. Wendell More; and his sister, Jean Akridge. Survivors include his wife, Vonnie Wacter Moore; seven sons, W.L. Moore, Jr. (special friend Karla) and Andy (Roxanne) Moore of Greenville, Waymond (Barbara) Moore, Howard (Judy) Moore, and Norman (Kenda) Moore, all of Stanton; Robin (Flossie) Moore of Bushnell, Florida, and Noel (Sharon) Moore of Kittery, Maine; one daughter, Connie Moore (Steve) Miller of Greenville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sherry Moore (Bill) Chambers of Warwick, Georgia. Private family services were held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Chaplain James A. Knight served as officiant. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Langston.
