1930 - 2009
THOMAS- Wayne Thomas, 79, lifelong Fenwick area resident, died Thursday, May 21, 2009. He was born on May 10, 1930 in Fenwick, the son of Robert W. and Carol (Fish) Thomas. On July 31, 1954, he married the love of his life, Bonnie, in Ionia. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer and a longtime rural route mail carrier. He formerly served as president of both the Montcalm County 4H Board and the Montcalm County Farm Bureau. He was also a former Board member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association. Above all, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie; his children, Robert Wayne (Karen) Thomas, Jr. of Central Lake, MI and Brenda Demenov of Fenwick; his grandchildren, Wade Thomas and Trevor and Casey Demenov; and his special companion, his dachshund Tony. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, Pastor Ken Harger officiating, with visitation from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Graveside committal services will follow in Sunny Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Waynes honor may be given to the Alzheimers Association.

You and Wayne were such a great part of our family. I remember so many great memories of him. He was such a great man. We are deeply sorry for your loss and pray that you will find comfort and peace to know he is with our Lord and he will be looking down with my dad, Paul, watching over us! I was visiting my parents this weekend and learned of Wayne's passing. He was a very kind and caring man, who always had a kind word to say. I remember him as a wonderful father and husband. My sympathies to you Bonnie, Brenda and Bobby and your families. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.
