Herbert H. Taylor, 89, of South Point, Ohio, died Thursday May 21, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1919 in Tenso, Virginia, to the late Susie and Alex Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Della Mae Taylor and Pearl Stapleton; and six brothers, Littleton, Aubra, Ester, Ted, Clay, and Edwin. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nova Ferne Taylor; sister Buena Davis; son Herbert H. Taylor Jr.; daughter Serena Baars; two grandchildren, Ellie C. Taylor and Katlyn N. Taylor; three stepsons Fred Baars, John Baars, and Michael Fulton; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and good friends, The Hagy's. Herbert was a WWII Air Force veteran, shipping clerk for Island Creek Coal Company and Ogelbay Norton. He was a member of Burlington Baptist Church and he was a member of South Point Masonic Lodge. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 23, 2009 at Lick Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Clincho, Virginia. Burial will follow in Arrington Family Cemetery. Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to express a special thanks to St. Mary's Medical Center Pulmonary floor and Dr. Ralph Stevens. Serena, Ferne, Herbie & Family- I just wanted to say that Herb was a 2nd dad to me, I've known him since the day I was born and dad loved him so much. I love him too. My prayers are with you. Take care of your mom as I know you will. Love her too.

I am so sorry for the family's loss. Herb was such a great man and friend of ours at Armstrong Cable for MANY years. May God be of a constant comfort to Fern and the rest of the family. I will sure miss him!!!
