Richard E. Dick Sutphen age 86 of Greenville died Monday August 17, 2009 at Metron of Belding. He was born in Belding MI on March 13,1923 the son of Eddie T. and Hattie Shook Sutphen. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II in the European Theater. Dick was married to Geraldine Wolverton on August 30 1947 and retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator WCI in 1985 as cost accountant. He was a former president of the Gibson Credit Union, enjoyed camping with the motor home and was also an ardent Notre Dame football fan.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine of Greenville and their children, Cynthia Cindy Sutphen of Grand Rapids and Richard Ed and Geneese Sutphen of Greenville, grandchildren; Allison Sutphen Phan and her husband John of Wyoming, Jason and Kathryn Sutphen of Caledonia and Mellisa Missy Sutphen of Greenville and great grandchildren Sydney and Aidan, his sister Barbara Frances Hillman of Holland and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert and Jack and his sister Lucille.
A private service with the family at the graveside in Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Belding will be held with Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
