VOID THOMAS BAKER

Void Thomas Baker, age 80, of Memphis, MO, formerly of Kahoka, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, while a patient at Northeast Mo. Regional Hospital in Kirksville, MO.

He was born July 30, 1929, in Stanton, TN, the son of Robert Ernest and Alla Mae Adams Baker.

Void served in the Korean War and was a highly decorated war hero. He loved to go fishing with his good friend, Dick Myers, who was like a brother to him. He never knew a stranger in his life and always had a story to tell.

He was preceded in death by his long-time companion and Angel, Barbara Butler Price in July of 2004; his parents; a brother, Hairel Baker; a sister, Cordessie Childers and her husband, John; and a son, Jerry Lynn Baker, in infancy.

Surviving are his extended family - Barbaras children: Kathy Wollam and Richard Myers, Jennifer (Van) Blum, Jane (Doug) Porter, and Bonnie (Gerald) Dieterich, all of the Kahoka area, Brenda Bemis of Des Moines, IA, Terry Gesel of Manchester, NH, and Bobby Butler of Peoria, IL, as well as their children and grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bobby (Ann) Baker and Ernest (Brenda) Baker; two sisters, Alice Corrine (Roger) Rodgers and Mona (Bobby) Pacheco; sister-in-law, Margie Baker and her daughter (his special niece), Janet, all of the Granite City, IL area; as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside services will be at a later date in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Memorials in lieu of flowers will be used to pay his final expenses and may be sent to Kathy Wollam, 325 Grant St., Kahoka, MO 63445.

The family was assisted locally by Wilson Funeral Home.
