JEFFERS- Mrs. Lena May Jeffers, 87, of Bass Lake, Gowen, former Detroit area and Florida resident, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Long Term Care in Greenville. She was born March 2, 1922 in Greene County, IN, the daughter of Elvie and Lillie (Page) LeForge. On December 29, 1940, she married Joseph Jeffers in Linton, IN. Joseph preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janis Jo Tavormina and brother, Vernis LeForge. She is survived by her son, Samuel (Sharon) Jeffers of Bass Lake; son-in-law, Peter Tavormina of Garden City; grandchildren, Curtis (Mary) Jeffers, Julie (Brian) Doshod, and Peter Tavormina; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Samantha, Brady, Larissa, Sarah, and Allison; sister, Wandalien Plumer of California; and sister-in-law, Ruth Thomason of Livonia. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 10-11 prior to the service. Rev. Steve Charnley of the Greenville First United Methodist will serve as officiant. Private interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland. Memorial contributions in Lena's honor may be given to a charity of one's choice.
