Lorena Audrey Webb, 96, of Gallipolis, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at Holzer Senior Care Center. She was born on November 13, 1912 in Harrison County, Ohio, the seventh of ten children to the late Frank and Janetta (Huff) Dunlap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William Walter Webb, Sr.; seven sisters, Leota Dunlap, Ruth Adams, Grace Porter, Marjorie Dickerson, Olive Wallace, Betty Quigley, and Bernadine Pickard and two brothers, Howard Dunlap and F. Donald Dunlap; and a great great grandson.

Surviving are a daughter, Beverly (Clare) Gettles of Gallipolis, and a son, William W. (Julie) Webb, Jr. of Millersburg, Ohio; five grandchildren, Vicki McBrayer and Shannon (Margi) Webb, both of Gallipolis; Kathryn (Sami) Gettles-Atwa of New York, New York; James (Kendra) Gettles of Dublin, Ohio, and Dr. Jarrod Webb of Millersburg, Ohio, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Betty Dunlap and brother-in-law, Howard Quigley, both of Doylestown, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Lorena graduated from Cadiz High School in 1930 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended Ohio University and taught in one room schools in Harrison County for five years prior to her marriage to William Webb on August 1, 1936. The Webbs moved to Gallipolis from Harrison County in 1951. From 1961-1983, Lorena owned and operated Webbs Grocery in Centenary. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and Elder; she also belonged to Riverside Study Club, Gallipolis; and the Freeport, Ohio, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #319. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and her family.

Lorena spent the last five years of her life at Holzer Senior Care Center where she received good care, loving hugs, and ice cream twice a day. Her family wishes to thank the folks of Harvest Row Court for all they did for her.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gallipolis, with Rev. Tim Luoma Officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at McCoy Moore Funeral Home 420 First Ave.Gallipolis on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 2:00  4:00 pm and 6:00  8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lorenas memory be sent to the First Presbyterian Mission Committee, 51 State Street, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
