Amelia Mary Willette Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1921 - 2009

Amelia Mary Willette, age 88 of Sand Lake, went peacefully to Heaven on Saturday, October 24, 2009, after a brief illness. She went to Jesus with her family and friends at her side, listening to the same hymns that soothed her to sleep every night. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Vernon Francis Willette (1989), her brothers Henry and Elmer Ross, her nephews Gary, Gerald and Mike Klooster, and all of her fabulous friends. She is survived by her sister Rosa (Henry) Klooster of Eastport. Also surviving are her daughters, Sandy Mazur (David) of Pagosa Springs, CO, Wanda Greenhoe (Jim Porter) of Sand Lake, grandchildren (Great-grandchildren) Dawn (Garrent and Alex), Dan (Brandon and Taylor) , Angela (Jack, Adeline and Ella), Steven (Brennan, Brooke and Madison), Kevin (Oliver) and Erin. Others she loved are her nieces, Gayle Sabdo, Shelly Dorland, Linda Ingalls; friends Laureen Gillis, Jackie Many and Crystal Pike. Amelia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sand Lake for 55 years and taught Sunday School there for 22 years. She was president of the United Methodist Women for 10 years and was honored as the churchs Woman of the Year in 2001. Amelia belonged to the Sand Lake Chapter of TOPS. She was a kind, caring woman who gave unconditional love to all who called her Mom, Grandma, Amelia and Mrs. Willette.

She was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers (who painfully disappointed her yet again this year). She enjoyed playing cards whether she won or lost, watching the trees display their new dresses in the spring, and seeing the lights of Christmas. She taught every child she knew to sing, Jesus Loves Me. Her family and friends were absolutely the joys of her life. Memorial services were held Monday, October 26, arranged by Hurst Funeral Home. It was her wish to be remembered by donations to the Sand Lake Methodist Church in lieu of flowers

Wanda and Family, I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved mother. It is difficult to say those final goodbyes but it is good to know that she is again comfortable and with those who have passed before her. Please take care and remember to take care of yourself as there are so many people who really care about you. During this time may HE hold you in the palm of His hand and surround you with his love, Diana
