Carl Dewey Stine Carl Dewey Stine of Sand Lake, Spencer Township, passed away at his home on Saturday November 7,2009. He was born in Altona MI on March 29,1933 the son of Guy and Ona Tompkins Stine. He attended Lakeview Schools where he met his wife Mary A. Newell and they were married on December 8,1951 in Grand Rapids. He was retired from Wolverine World Wide with 33 years of service and was an active member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant holding several offices and positions. He was a man of strong faith.

He was preceded in death by his siblings; Cecil, Gerald and Daniel Stine, Ada Allen, Elizabeth Hopkins, Arlene Burt, Martha London Calhoun, Marjorie Stine and Lucille Cory.

Surviving are his wife Mary of Sand Lake, his seven daughters; Jacque (Ken) Malokofsky of Belding, Barbara (Dennis) Petersen of Greenville, Carrie (David) Wygmans, of Ada, Mary Lou (Dwight) Poulsen of Cedar Springs, Betsy (Steve) Maki of Lowell, Sandy Stine of Grand Rapids and Becky Reinig and Rob of Littleton Colorado, grandchildren; Jordan (Caryn) Malokofsky, Nick (Kate) Malokofsky, Bret Petersen, Leslie Petersen, Chris (Andrea) Kempton, Niki Kempton and Alex, Kristen Maki, Laura Maki, Dan Reinig, Jenny Reinig and 9 great grandchildren, his brother Tyrus (Laurene) Stine of Vermontville, Robert Jack Stine of Greenville, his sister Grethel (Walter) Bearman of Eaton Rapids, his wifes family; Joan (Walter) Huyck of Sand Lake, Nancy Young, Grand Rapids, Pete (Connie) Newell of Kingsley, Martha Young of Midland, Linda (Jim) Shellen of Whitehall and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday November 14, 2009 at 11 AM at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Burial will be in Coral Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Spectrum Health Hospice or St. Thomas Lutheran Church

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Our sincere sympathy on the loss of a very kind man. Hadn't seen Uncle Carl since my grandmother's (Elizabeth Hopkins)funeral but he touched our hearts with his kindness and sense of humor.
