Mr. Hardy was undoubtedly one of the most influential educators I have had the privilege of calling "my teacher". Many times in my own teaching career I have drawn upon the passion for science he displayed and the immeasurable knowledge he gave to reach my own students. He taught us there was never a stupid question, and went beyond his duty to answer each question thoroughly and accurately. I hope the love of science lives on in those he educated. Thank you Mr. Hardy for your service and dedication.

Mr. Hardy was a very special man to me. Not only was he a great teacher, but after graduation he became a wonderful friend. I will deeply miss running into him at places where we would talk for quite sometime. He always gave great advice and could make me laugh. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by me, my family, and especially my mother who became his friend through teaching. I was so sorry to hear about his passing and really regret not being able to come to his funeral. I was there in spirit. He will always be in my heart.

I had Mr. Hardy for both 7th and 8th grade science at Chesapeake Middle (1980). He was a great teacher and really seem to love teaching. He was funny and always had a unique way of handling an awkward age group. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope you know how much he was appreciated and loved.

I taught with Fred for many years and enjoyed his quiet sense of humor. But I am most grateful to him for instilling in my own children a love of science. Because of him, my daughter went on to become a chemical engineer, and her son is studying to become a science teacher. So his influence goes on and on. I am sorry for your loss and the loss to the community. Marjorie Williams

Mr. Hardy was definitely one of the most unique and influential teachers I had the pleasure of learning from. He had a great charisma in the classroom. He made it easy to learn with his quick wit and obvious expertise in the subject. I am so sorry I never had the opportunity as an adult to tell this unique man how wonderful he was. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. "Don't cry that it's over, be Happy that it Happened." We will miss you Mr. Hardy.

As a former student I would like to say Mr. Hardy was well thought of and appreciated for his concern for me and my fellow students science education. He was an asset to the Chesapeake School System and will be missed.
