Karen Nevorah Sheets, 66, Rio Grande, Ohio, passed away on Christmas Day at her home. She retired with thirty years service from the University of Rio Grande, where she cared deeply for her co-workers while serving as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Records and previously, working in the Admissions Office. During her tenure at the University of Rio Grande she trained and mentored many students who became close friends. She was an honorary member of the Lambda Omicron Psi Sorority where she served as Advisor. Currently, she was serving on the Village of Rio Grande Council, and was also a former member of the Moose Lodge, Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia.
She was born December 5, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, daughter of the late Charles Edward Meador and Juanita May Meador. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy "Nevorah" (John Stover) Sheets-Hoshi, Rio Grande, Ohio; Grandchildren: Karen Nevorah Hoshi-McCown, Rio Grande, Ohio; Alyssa Gale Sheets, Patriot, Ohio, Tanya Michelle Coon, North Carolina; Great Grandchildren: Nevaeh Rayne Nevorah McCown, Rio Grande, Ohio, and one brother, Allen (Brenda) Meador, Huntington, West Viriginia.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Melissa "Toshiko" Sheets-Coon and a sister, Brenda Cupo.
Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2009, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio, with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating.
