Ed will be missed so much by Steve and me. What a smile! What a laugh! How wonderfully well he handled his illness. I will always be amazed at his proclaimation....."I've done everything I wanted to do." Not many can say that. And....he did so love his "Mart". Our prayers are with you, Marty. We are proud of the way you are handling this.

I remember when we first visited Uncle Ed, and when I went into his studio, it reminded me of a big game hunter with all the different animal trophys, and he had this wind up toy with a drunk guy, drinking out of a cup and a real long switchblade. Later my brothers took his speargun and they shooting it down the street. What an experience! Of course I was very young, but to hear Uncle Ed talk about being a fighter pilot, all of this was much bigger than life, and he was such a tall manly figure. Still, when I got older I always wanted to know something about his exploits in the Pacific and would brag about my Uncle who was a real war hero. I just thought, this is a true man of the world. He was so funny, and I remember later when I was older and we took a trip to Mexico we were riding in his white El Camino and he had a tape playing Shantilly Lace by the Big Bopper, and I will always associate that song with him. He seemed like the coolest guy alive, like someone Playboy would write about, and you just wanted to be able to hang around with him. It was exciting and just a lot of fun. He always treated me like a person and not about my age, and as a grew older, I realized, he was the "real" deal.

Aunt Marty, I fondly recall the times we spent with you and Anita from our early 20's. I always thought you two made a handsome couple. Over the years, Anita has kept us posted after each visit during the summers. I pray God give you the strength as you begin your new journey. Just remember, you are never alone during your mourning. My heartfelt condolences are for you and all your extended family. Suzie Martin (Friend of Anita since 1968)

Uncle Ed was bigger than life and we will still wonder if his stories were all true. He was my hero also and I loved him so much...dashing and the coolest of the cool. We would all hang on his every word...the consummate storyteller. As long as I am alive so will he be. "Nothing loved is ever lost."
