John Hobert Knotts, 83, of Langsville, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. He was born May 22, 1926, in Leewood, West Virginia, son of the late Robert Harry Knotts and Beaulah Gladys Shenefield Knotts. He was a retired plumber, United States World War II Army Veteran, and a Purple Heart recipient. His memberships included the American Legion Post 476, Wilkesville; Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Reynoldsburg VFW; and the Meigs County DAV.

John married Marjorie V. Jacks Knotts on October 21, 1946, in Meigs County and together they were foster parents to several children and their families for many years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Larry (Ruby) Knotts, Pataskula, Ohio; Jack (Patty) Knotts, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and Judy (Kenny) Kirk, Langsville, Ohio; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters: Goldie (Edwin) Nelson, Wooster, Ohio; Jean Graham, Springfield, Ohio; Bob Knotts, Sissonville, West Virgina; Nancy (Tim) Hall, Whitehall, Ohio; and Kenny (Vivian) Knotts, Vinton, Ohio; sister-in-law: Kathy Knotts, Kirkersville, Ohio and adopted son-in-law: Terry Fetty, Dayton, Ohio.

John was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Jasmine Lea Knotts; infant sister, Betty June Knotts; brother, Vernon Lee Knotts; adopted daughter, Treasa Rose Fetty; and adopted grandson, Little Terry Fetty.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 15, 2010, at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Reverend Rod Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Center Cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

My condolences go to the Knotts family. I saw John about a year ago, should have went to visit with him. Having grown up and gone to school with most of the family, I say I am so sad for your loss. If I can help please let me know.
