Emily passed away Sunday morning, March 14, 2010 at the Health Center of Friendship Village, Kalamazoo. She was born December 13, 1905 in Zanesville, OH the daughter of late James H. and Emily Claren (OBannon) Timmons. Emily graduated from Grand Rapids Junior College and Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee. Before her marriage, Emily worked as a secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church. After marriage, she and Ken eventually moved to Kalamazoo. In the 50's-60's she worked for Dr, William Scott in Kalamazoo. After their retirement, she and Ken moved to Venice, Fl where they resided a number of years. After Kens death, she moved to Friendship Village in Kalamazoo. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Kalamazoo. On November 9, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI, Emily was united in marriage to J. Kenneth Wykkel who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James R. Timmons; 2 sisters, Ann Himebaugh and Betty Hawley. Surviving are a daughter, Sally Wykkel of San Francisco, CA many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 22, 2010, 11 a.m. at the Cascade Township Cemetery, Cascade, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church, Paw Paw or the Friends Fund at Friendship Village, Kalamazoo. Arrangements are by the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw. |

My mother Ruth (Emmons) Wood and Emily were good friends for 60 years give or take. Emily was a good friend, good bridge player and delightful company. After my mom passed I did enjoy an occasional visit and found Emily as gracious and interesting to talk with as ever. God speed

Dear Family,
My family also experienced the death of a dearly loved one and we were comforted with words from God's Word the Bible. Sharing these words of hope with other families helps to renew my own hope. Jesus promised at John 5:28,29 that he will resurrect those who have fallen asleep in death. The apostle Paul at Acts 24:15 let us know that many during that time had that hope. At Revelation 21:3,4 we are promised that one day there will be no more pain, sorrow or death. I hope these few heartfelt words will help to bring a measure of peace to your family.
