Virgil Ray NicholsVirgil Ray Nichols, 75 of Crown City, Ohio passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born May 19, 1934 to the late Grover and Janie Nichols. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Junior, Russell and Earl Fredrick Nichols; a sister Janice Sims; nephew Greg Nichols and niece Deidra Nichols. He is survived by best friend and traveling buddy niece Shelly Payne of Proctorville, Ohio; son David (Nancy) King of Crown City, Ohio; granddaughters Tracee (Joshua) Gue; Sarah King and Sharae King all of Crown City, Ohio; great grandchildren Launa, Aden and Trey also of Crown City, Ohio; brothers Bill (Norma) Nichols of Columbus, Ohio, Marlin Nichols, Bobby (Mary Alice) Nichols, Ernie Lee (Marie) Nichols all of Crown City, Ohio; sisters Alice Jack, Arlie Mae (Glen) Ramey, Juanita (Kenny) Dillon all of Proctorville, Ohio; sister-in-law Twila Nichols of Crown City, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews as well as special friends Dr. Charles Thorndyke and J.D. Marcum of Kentucky and his Three Rivers Hospital family. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked 22 years at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, KY. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from C & O Railroad and Three Rivers Medical Center. He was a member of VFW Post 6878, Proctorville, Ohio and attended Federal Creek Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Hospice House of Huntington and the oncology floor at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 by Dr. Charles Thorndyke and Pastor Jim Parsons at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio. Proctorville VFW Post 6878, Proctorville, Ohio will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 6 pm to 8 pm Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Virgil will be missed greatly-he was a WONDERFUL & CARING person! I enjoyed knowing Virgil and he was someone who would help anyone-at anytime and in anyway. Love You Virgil-rest peacefully.

SHELLY BRENDA AND FAMILY IM SO SORRY FOR OUR LOSS I LOVED UNCLE VIRIGL RAY TOO BUT NOW HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE AND WITH THE OTHER LOVED ONES WHO HAS WENT ON I KNOW MY MOMMIE WILL BE SAD BUT GLAD TO SEE HIM IN HEAVEN WITH HER NOW I KNOW JIMMIE WILL TO LOVE YOU ALL
