John William Page, Jr Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1940 - 2010

It was February 16, 1940, in the city of Robinette, West Virginia that the world welcomed the arrival of John William Page, Jr. The first child born to the late John W. and Mazie Lockhart Page, Sr. At a young age John moved with his family to Huntington, West Virginia where he received his education in the public schools of Cabell County, graduating from Douglass High School in the class of 1959.

Following graduation John enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until he was Honorably Discharged. Returning to Huntington he gained employment at Owens-Illinois, where he was a dedicated and devoted employee for 29 years and 6 months as a Master Mechanic.

On December 28, 1991 John was united in marriage with Sadie Westmoreland and was a loving and devoted husband for eighteen years.

Having accepted Christ at a young age, John always had a love for the church. He was a faithful member of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, where he was Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, member of the Mens Sunday School Class and Wednesday Night Bible Study. Because of his love for the church, he could always be found doing whatever his hands could find to do. Even when his health began to fail, he could be found at the church whenever work was being done, saying I cant do much, but Im here.

It was February 6, 2010 in the early morning hours that God whispered to John and said You have fought a good fight, you have kept the faith, you have finished your course and John peacefully slept away to join his parents, John, Sr. and Mazie, sister, Cleo Williams and brother Donald Page who preceded him in death .

He leaves to cherish his memories and to continue his legacy of love: His loving and devoted wife of eighteen years, Sadie. Two sons: John (Sherry) Page, III of Huntington, WV and William Page of Williamsburg, VA, One daughter: Deborah Page of South Point, OH. Three step sons: Terry Jones of Columbus, OH, Robert Westmoreland of South Point, OH, and Ronald Westmoreland of Proctorville, OH. Three step daughters: Marsha Simms of Manassas, VA, Patricia Jones of Columbus, OH, and Davetta Jones of Seattle, WA. Two Brothers: Archie (Ruth) Page, and James (Toni Kay) Page, both of Huntington, WV. One Sister: Jeanette (Tom) McRae of Huntington, WV. 31 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Services will be 1:00PM Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church with Pastor Roy E. Terry, Officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Friends may call from 11:00AM until the time of the service at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church.
