Laura passed away Monday morning, May 17, 2010 after a battle with cancer at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. She was born June 23, 1959 in Watervliet, MI the daughter of Roland and Joan (Pinkerton) Hambleton. She was employed by Coca Cola, Paw Paw for 20 years. She loved photography, cooking, gardening, animals, crafts and was a talented writer of short stories and poems. Surviving are her significant other, Glenn Sjoerdsma of Lawrence, father Roland (Carol) Hambleton of Stevensville; 4 children, Kelly (Ted) Stanard of Decatur, Michael Vaive of Lawrence, Shannon (Fiancé, Steve McCrossin) Vaive of Paw Paw, and Amber (Brad) Morris of Fayetteville, NC; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Wendy (Joe) Stewart of St. Joseph and Rhonda Brink of Benton Harbor; brother, Todd Hambleton of Lawrence; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan and a brother, Bruce. Family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Monday 1 p.m. with Rev. Joe Spackman officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. |

I graduated with Laura in 1978 from Lawrence High School. Laura was a very special classmate. She would help you when you needed it.

I got to know Laura so well- we worked together for 12 years. I will always remember her great sense of humor and awesome smile. Laura will be missed every day and never forgotten.

I only got to know Laura from work but that was enough to know what a great person she was. Though she will be greatly missed, her pain is over, and her valiant strugle was an inspiration to all of us.
