1972 - 2010
After courageously battling triple negative breast cancer for a year and 3 months, our beloved daughter, Kisha Pruitt slipped the surly bonds of earth on the morning of October 28, 2010, with her parents by her side. Her kindred spirit and feline companion of 15 years, Makenzie Duncan, preceded her in death by less than two weeks. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Charlotte and Bill Queen of Milton, W.Va., her father, Don Pruitt and his friend Karen Tillis of Proctorville, Ohio; her brother, Stephen Pruitt of Austin, Texas; her 2 step brothers, Bill Queen Jr. and his wife Heather of Canton, GA; and Greg Queen and his wife Tammy of Barboursville, WVA; her special aunt and uncle, Mary Evelyn & Larry Wilkes; many cousins that loved her; her special friends, Jennifer Robinette, Amy Henry, & Traci Blount; as well as her female feline companion, Zoe. Kisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Ruth Taylor; and John and Orie Sites.
Kishas life was remarkable from the beginning. She was born Kisha Renea Pruitt on April 1, 1972, at Saint Marys Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Throughout her life, she was an incredibly strong, spiritual person who cherished life and lived it to the fullest. She swam with dolphins and went snorkeling in the Cayman Islands. She deeply revered the earth and the animals and people inhabiting it. Most recently, Kisha was a volunteer for the Legal Services of North Florida Telephone Legal Advice Hotline as well as the Humane Society in Jacksonville, Fla.
Kisha was a 1990 graduate of Fairland High School in Proctorville, Ohio. She graduated from Marshall University with her bachelors degree in criminal justice in May 1994. Everyone who knew Kisha knew how much she loved the Thundering Herd! After earning her law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in May 1997, Kisha moved to Florida.
Over the past 13 years, she has lived in Tallahassee, Melbourne, Orlando, and Jacksonville, Fla. She worked for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as well as The Nature Conservancy. Kisha has been an Escrow Officer and Assistant General Counsel for Gibraltar Title Services in Jacksonville for the last five years. She was beloved by her coworkers and neighbors alike, and it is impossible to overstate how much she was adored by her multitude of friends.
Kisha enriched the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her. Her parting has left a gaping hole in our lives. She is sorely missed now and forever will be. Our only comfort comes from knowing that she is no longer suffering and has now touched the face of God and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A visitation will also be held at the Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 11:00 am, also at the Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville. Kishas family would like to say a special Thank You to the Nurses at Baptist South, and all her friends and co-workers at Gilbraltar & Prudential. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Kisha to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257, or to the Susan G. Koman for the Cure, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX, 75265-0309. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

I knew Kisha at law school. She was a petite, charming young lady. I recall going to a "Friends" watching party at her apartment one time and I recall her always seeming to be lit by something inside. My sincerest condolences. The world is a bit darker for her passing.

Dear Pruitt Family,
I send my heart felt condelences to you all regarding the passing of my dear friend, Kisha. I am deeply hurt and saddened of the loss of her and she will be deeply missed. While living down here in Florida, we became very close. I could write a book about all the wonderful things about her, the great times we had, especially watching the Herd games together, and how special she was. It won't be the same without her. I will always hold her memory and her spirit close, and always actively support the cure for breast cancer in her honor. Heaven truly has an angel. God Bless You all!

Dear family, I have been thinking of your family and Kisha daily since I first saw the obit. in the paper. I have nothing but wonderful memories of her as my student. Even my son Brian, also a lawyer, was deeply saddened. He remembered where she went to law school and even spoke to her on a couple of occasions. My thoughts and prayers are, and will be, with you. God bless you.

We Are so sorry to learn of Kisha's passing. We shared her entrance into this world as our daughter, Valerie, came into our lives at the same time.
Please know that you are in our prayers. Heaven has become a sweeter place and that one day you can hold her again.
