William Vernon WagonerWilliam Vernon Wagoner, 87, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday November 30, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV. He was born August 8, 1923, in Gallia County, Ohio son of the late Dan and Mary Slagle Wagoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Marylene Irion and one brother John Daniel Wagoner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia (Vaught) Wagoner; two sons Gary Wagoner of Huntington, WV and Eric Wagoner of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters Rosalie Carter, Carolyn and husband Ed Jeffers, and Carma Briggs; sister-in-law Helen Wagoner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed by Wagoner Brothers Lumber Company Huntington, WV for 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Proctorville and he was an avid bowler. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 4, 2010 at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor Duane Smith. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday December 4, 2010 at Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Proctorville, Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. I know it's something we all have to face, but I just hate being a grown-up & having to say goodbye to my folks. I hope you can be strong for your mother. I'm here if you need to talk.

Vernon was my very BEST FRIEND !!! HE taught me the hardware business.He always was there to help me anytime,even in subzero weather to get my car started. His Love & Kindness was extended to everyone.
