Dear family, I thought that I had already posted something, sorry. But you have been in my thoughts and prayers...

About thirty years ago, I had the priviledge to work with Jim & Tom on the fellowship Hall at Defender Church. My then husband and I did some wiring there and they were doing the carpentry work. I remember them so well because they kept us in stitches throughout the whole project. I have always thought of them with that fond memory. I am sorry for your loss. Tanna Lockard Thomas

Since before I even learned to speak Brandon has been my best friend, and his family has always treated me like one of their own. Pap was like a grandfather to me, and I am so thankful to have had someone as genuinely kind as him in my life. There were so many times I remember him, and everyone he was smiling. Pap, you will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Mr. Day was the best neighbor and friend anyone could ever ask for. I thought of him as more of a grandfather than a neighbor. In fact, I was blessed to have him in my life longer than either of my actual grandfathers! His love, kindness, and generosity meant the world to me. I will never forget him. I love you all as my own family. I find comfort in the peace of knowing that as a child of God, Mr. Day is celebrating his life in heaven right now. And one day, we will all be reunited as heavenly neighbors.

What are you supposed to do when you wake up and realize someone you've spent probably more time with than anyone for 21 years is gone? How can you look forward to Christmas or a birthday when there's just going to be an empty seat? So many things that he never got to witness my marriage, a child, me getting older. Yet still after 21 years I was still "little boy". For the first time I've lost someone close to me and I seriously must say, I will never be the same. I want to be a better and more caring person. We will see. Just know I'll never forget you and will miss you forever. Thank you for being the best grandpa anyone could want. Love you. Papaw. Your "little boy"

Jim (PAP) was like a grandfather to me, the very last one I had. He was the best to Pam and me. He was always worried about everyone else and put himself last. Like our guardian angel here on earth. Now he is our guardian angel in heaven. It will be hard not seeing his smiling face but I know in my heart he is in a better place and not suffering anymore. We love you pap you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Papa Day, It is Friday evening and I should be getting ready to come to your home to spend the night with you. But tonight you are in your heavenly home at peace. I know you are rejoicing but my heart is breaking. I will miss our special Friday and Saturday nights where we would watch football and let Der go to bed to get some rest. I was blessed to have you in my life for 45 years. Heaven gained a very special angel on Thursday. I know you will be watching over me. I will see you again someday and that is what is going to get me thru this. I love you. Pam
