1928 - 2011
Freda Maynard Young, 82, formerly of Chesapeake, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Ashland Community Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. She was born March 6, 1928 in Dunlow, WV daughter of the late James and Flora Adkins Maynard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband last year on February 5, 2010, Rev. John Young. Also preceding her in death was an infant son, Roger Lee Young; an infant brother; an infant great granddaughter and a step-grandson. She is survived by her children John E. Young of Kenova, WV, Juanita "Sissy" Strait and husband Ernie of Baltimore, Ohio, James Young and wife Brenda of Proctorville, Ohio, Linda Gullett of Ashland, KY, Regina Gullett and husband Clint of Ashland, KY with whom she made her home since the passing of her husband; a step-daughter Georgiann Beckelheimer of Carter Co., KY, a brother Dallas and his wife Janet Maynard of Ceredo, WV and a sister Marie Robinson of Huntington, WV; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one adopted great grandchild and a new great granddaughter which arrived one day after her passing. She was a Christian and a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Association Church for 49 years. She was a gentle, kind, patient and compassionate human being. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She has a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her so much. She will be greatly missed. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Brian Petty. Burial will follow in Young Cemetery, Genoa, WV.
