Sarah Ruth Levisay, 83, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Wyngate Senior Living Community Barboursville, WV. She was born February 26, 1928 in Miller, Ohio daughter of the late Charles and Nola Knight Wilgus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings. She is survived by her husband Ernest Levisay; one daughter Nola (John) Scott of Huntington, WV, one son Bruce (Mindy) Levisay of Ona, WV; four grandchildren Randy Brooks, Ellen Conley, Chris and Kyle Levisay; and one sister Eloise Bell of Tabor, Iowa. She was a retired teacher from Fairland School District and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Proctorville, Ohio. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 6878, Proctorville, Ohio, Proctorville Teresa Chapter #257 O.E.S, and Ladies Auxiliary of the Ohio Valley Lodge #536 F & AM of Crown City, Ohio. She graduated from Rome High School in 1946 and Marshall University with a Masters degree in education. She was a member of retired Teachers Association of Lawrence County. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Rome Cemetery Mausoleum, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Dwayne Shugert. Entombment will follow. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Proctorville Teresa Chapter #257 O.E.S. will conduct an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Charitable contributions may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, 111 Township Road 1130, Proctorville, Ohio 45669. I am so sorry for your loss of Mrs. Levisay. 36 years ago, she was my 6th grade teacher. I have very fond memories of her still to do this day.

Nola and Bruce. I am so sorry for your loss. I just visited them at Wyngate a few months ago and so enjoyed them. My love and prayers are with you. I did not know of this until after the service, I am so sorry I did not make it.

Ruth was a lovely lady. She was a pleasure to know and be with during the short time I was privileged to know her. All the members of the Lawrence County Retired Teachers Association who knew Ruth mourn her loss and offer their codolences to her family and friends.

I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I had Mrs. Levisay when I was in the 6th grade. I am now 46, but it seems like yesterday. She was a wonderful teacher. She will be missed.
