Our hearts are filled with sadness at the loss of John, and our community suffers a great loss. His smiling face will be missed greatly, especially at the many sporting events he supported. My father-in-law, Jimmy Dillon, has loved John since their trucking days. Kevin and Jordan loved playing baseball for him. No coach could have been more kind or caring. We love you Roam family. As was John, you are very special to many people in this community.

To the Roam family: My family and I are deeply sorry for your loss. John was truly a fine man and I was deeply saddened Wednesday evening when I heard that he had passed. Only a short month ago I spent about an hour with John talking at a Wayne / Spring Valley Baseball game during which John introduced me to probably 10 different people as his "old friend". That was simply the way John was and how he made you feel each time you talked to him always the same&warm...outgoing...full of life& He was truly an "old friend" not only to me but my whole family and I will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Matt Stephens

Joanna, Jim, and Roger, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I have so many fond memories of him coaching me in softball. I coach now myself and find myself referring back to his teachings more than you will ever know. He was a wonderful man, and a true inspiration to me. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. May God hold you in his hand at this difficult time.

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Roams passing. I met him a few years ago while my husband was president of Ceredo-Kenova Babe Ruth. He was eager to help in anyway. My husband to a weeks vacation two years ago to repair the lights at the C-K football/baseball field. Mr. Roams set there for several hours on two different evenings to turn the lights on and off when needed while he was working. I will never forget him saying to me "well, you can't leave the man here by himself working on all that electric and that high in the air, so I'm staying" bound and determined to help he did just that and was very much appreciated for doing so. I will never forget that kind smile and always joking about something. He would always kid my daughter and ask her who was the lucky guy in her life. He will be greatly missed. Words cannot express my feeling of loss for John. He was the most humble, generous, and unselfish man I know. John always gave me credit for helping him make his working career a success, but in reality it was John who worked so hard that he made his own career, and in the end it was he who helped me become a successful businessman. Each month I would call him to have lunch at the Mini Lunch and give him the update on all his former employees and how business was going. He would never turn down a free lunch he always told me. I missed having lunch with him last month and was just thinking last week how I had better call him and then I got the news. I was shocked, not even knowing he was sick. Now I am kind of mad at myself because we didn't have that last lunch together. He will always have a close spot in my heart and will be thought of often. I will miss him. Love to all your family. Dennis
