1913 - 2011
Earl LaFon, 97, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Sunday May 15, 2011 in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born June 3, 1913, son of the late Taylor and Laura Bowen LaFon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor LaFon; one daughter Carolyn Davis; four brothers Tom, Clay, Isaac, and Ray LaFon; one sister Virgie Fitzpatrick; and one son-in-law Don Fugate. Earl is survived by his wife Phyllis LaFon; stepson Thomas Lee White of Chesapeake, Ohio; one daughter JoAnn Fugate of Jackson, Michigan; two brothers Jim LaFon of Huntington, WV and Rush LaFon of North Carolina; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and one son-in-law Dave Davis of Huntington, WV. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home by Minister Tom Miller and Minister Barry Kelley. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery Chesapeake, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Dear family, I so remember Earl from church and oh how precious those memories are. I will NEVER forget him. May you all find comfort in this difficult time..the Lord is with you and we are wrapping your family in prayer. God bless and so so sorry to hear of your loss, he was amazing! LOVE YOU!

phyllis i am so sorry to hear of your loss. earl was my girls sunday school teacher at church of Christ on Greasy Ridge and they all loved him so. i know you and i have talked some but i hadn't seen earl for a long time. we will hold you and tommy in our prayers.

Grandpa you brought me so many wonderful memories on the Ridge.
You will be greatly missed, but grandma LaFon will have you by her side again.
Patty, you were the best person for Grandpa in his later years and I am forever grateful to you and the love you shared for grandpa and our family. I will always be here for you if you need anything just call me.
