Hobert Edward  Earls

Hobert Edward Eddie Earls, 63, left his earthly life Friday, May 20, 2011 and was welcomed into the presence of his Heavenly Father. He was born July 12, 1947, in Huntington, WV to Billy Denford and Ivalee Faye (Cyrus) Earls.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens

Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Billy Denford Earls, paternal grandparents Hobert G. Earls and Betty Jo (Pyles) Earls, Harrison and his maternal grandparents Thomas Edward Tommy and Armilda (Lowe) Cyrus, along with numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Eddie is survived by his loving mother, Ivalee Faye (Cyrus) Earls, of Ceredo, WV, with whom he resided. He had been married to Deborah (Keaton) Earls, Huffman and they childered a daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Earls) Cunningham of Cleveland, OH and a son, Mark Edward Earls, married to Chelsea Desiree (Curtis) Earls of Priest River, ID. Grandchildren include; Meghan Noel Cunningham of Parkersburg, WV, Olivia Joyce and Oliver Cyrus Earls of Priest River, ID.

He is also survived by an uncle, Raymond Edsell Cyrus, many cousins and 3 very special cousins; Sheila G. Earls, Billie Jo Earls and Joyce (Adkins) Jones. And a very special friend and helper, Donna Shull of Milton, WV.

He played little league growing up and was a graduate of Vinson High School, Class of 1965, where he was a member of the Vinson Marching Band Drum Corps and played baseball for the Vinson Tigers.

Eddie briefly attended Marshall University and was an avid fan till his passing. While he attended Marshall, he was drafted to serve in Vietnam. He entered his military service with the United States Marine Corps as a Private (E-1), January 1967 and endured basic training at Parris Island, SC. While in the service, his nickname was 'Squirrel'. His last duty assignment; HML-167, MAG16, 1stMAW. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal

w/device and Air Medal w/Numeral 1. He was an A/C Hydraulics Mechanic and Gunner on 46's during medical runs. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant (E-5), September 1970.

Prior to his military service and after his return he worked for the Kroger Company. He then went to work at the Nickel Plant (INCO) prior to his disability.

He had previously served other veterans and their families as a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Huntington, WV and was a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed going to or watching movies, and loved Midway hotdogs.

He was a member of Ceredo Christian Baptist Church in Ceredo, WV.

Thank you for the call Mark , not the kind of call you want to here from about and old friend. Eddie and I grewup in the shop at New River (HMM264) and spent alot of time with each others family. Debbie and my Debbie were close and Kim was tiny. All a long time ago. Our prayers and thought go out to all of you. God calls home the ones he loves and we are left here. Sometimes that doesn't feel right. SEMPER FI BROTHER

My Dear friend You will always in my Thoughts. I was thinking of you these past few weeks and didn't get around to track you down. I am sorry Buddie! We did talk as well as with your MoM back some years ,and then we loss each other again. Kim I was told I was Your God Father even tho I didn't get to be a True one,I did think of you from time to time . Mark I didn't really get a chance to know you that well ,but did wonder how you all was doing. We have some things to be able to think back on Thanks to God. Deb I remember when we loss our daughter, years ago and Now I know She will be talking up a storm with ED. (Mom) Ivalee I did get to talk with you before Eddie and I talk those years ago ( to Long ago ) So I have to believe you do remember Me and time we met down in New River in those little Trailiers! To Eddie's family - please accept my condolences at this difficult time. I was saddened to hear of Eddie's passing. I played in the Vinson Band with him and have fond memories of Eddie. He always greeted me with a smile.

I posted Ed's orbits on his Marine Corps unit website. Got a reply from one of his friends Jerome Hall "Thanks for the post Charlie < For I had known Ed and his x from NAS Millington TN Schools,and then New River with 264 for 20 months with a Craib Cruise 68. Saw Him in Vietnam a few times at 167,when I was Flying with 262. I was just thinking about Him last night and wondering? How Strange! I Baby set for He and His Xwife Deb a few times and was told I was Daughter Kims God Father. Have not been in touch with them in Sometime . Pray I will being able to touch base with Some of them . My brother, Rocky, played Little League with Eddie and our families were "Little League Families" together at League 1 in Westmoreland. I remember you, Ivalee, and how you and my mother, Effie Harris, were friends. Those days hold some of my best memories. So sorry for your loss.
