I first met Stape at Seymour Johnson AFB in 1976. When he found out I was from Huntington he took me under is wing and guided me along the way. I just found out today that he passed on. There were many times I should have stopped by to see him when I was in town from Goldsboro NC...Sorry Charlie I didnt do that...God Bless you...I will miss you "BOY"

Stape and I were together on the SAC MSET team. We were both munitions guys and we hung together when we went on inspection trips. He was a little crazy but I liked him. We were technical inspectors but Charlie was always interested in how the troops were being treated. I was a technical kind of guy but Stape was a people person. I think you know that. Charlie was always talking trash about his basketball prowess. He said we could just call him "The Great One". So I called him "Stape the great". My little girl heard us talking and she thought we were saying "Stape the Grape". So from then on, at our house, he was "Stape the Grape". I love you Stape.

We are so sorry for your loss, my son and I used to deliver papers with Charlie and sometimes we had some long waits for our papers, we would all just sit and talk and have a good time. A few times they were so late we came to your house and Charlie would make us a pot of coffr
