Ernie Albert Watson, 93, of Crestview, Florida, beloved husband of the late Nellie Eileen (Williams) went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 10, 2011. Born on July 5, 1918, in Crown City, Ohio to the late Patrick Amos and Liza Kathern (Rossiter) Watson. He was the brother of Carrie, Chauncey, Virgie Wilson, Della Warren and Nellie Clarey. He honorably served his country as an infantryman during WWII, and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during campaigns in Europe. For 21 years, Ernie was employed by the Fairland School District as a bus driver, attendance officer and later as a custodian. Ernie and Nellie retired and spent their remaining years together in Florida, celebrating 72 years of marriage. He is survived by his brother Bernie Orson, four daughters, Elsie Barnes of Nicholasville, KY, Rose Balmer, (Dick), of Ironton, OH, Virgie Hamrick of Lambertville, MI and Edith Giovanini, (Tom), of Crestview, FL as well as extended family, friends and neighbors. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Leo Edwards at 1 pm, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville Ohio. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
