Joseph Gerald Jerry Murphy passed away on August, 11 2011. Jerry was born in Maysville, KY to Joseph G. Murphy, Sr. and Corinne Louise Slye Murphy on April 8, 1926. He served in the United States Army during WWII, then completed college in Kentucky, and worked in the garment industry as an Industrial Engineer and Plant Superintendent until retirement. He was married in 1957 to Joyce Mildred Snuffer (b. 1931, d.1998). He is survived by his children, Joseph G. J.G. Murphy III, William Jackson Bill Murphy and Kim Axline Murphy, Paul Lester Murphy and Paula Thornton Murphy, and Mary Corinne Murphy Webb and Darren M. Webb. Jerry has 5 grandchildren: Paul's son, Joseph Paul Murphy and daughter, Nicki Cain Keith and her husband, Derek A. Keith; Mary's daughter, Corinne Nicole Christman and her fiance Joshua Stephen Fenn; and Bill's daughter, Elizabeth Ann Murphy and son, David William Murphy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Chesapeake Church of the Nazarene, 817 Brown Street, Chesapeake, OH 45619. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans because they're doing important work out there or the American Heart Association because modern medicine has kept me alive for years. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
