James Lloyd Rountree, 75, died peacefully as he slept, Thursday morning September 22, 2011, at his home in Lumberton.
He was born January 10, 1936 to Edgar and Emma Lee Rountree in Saratogo, Texas.
After graduation from Lutcher Stark High School, he went to Texas A&M Engineering where he studied Welding Technologies and later in life received certification as a welding Inspector and Industrial Radiologist.
His life was a portrait of devotion to his wife and family and an example to his children on how they should live.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, John Wayne, and the Dallas Cowboys, but his passion was NASCAR.
James was a "gentle" man who touched many lives, made many friends and few enemies.
His passing will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Timothy Rountree.
His survivors are his wife of 54 years, Linda Rountree, son Michael Rountree and wife Dianna of Lumberton, son Patrick Rountree and wife Debbie of Orange, daughter Leisa Stewart and husband Henry of Beaumont, sister Jean Ellen Johnson and husband Richard of Interlachen, Fla., sister Faye Higgenbotham and husband Charles of Palatka, Fla., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as two nieces and a nephew who loved him very much.

Graveside services will be held 3:00PM Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Felps Cemetery. Visitation will begin 6:00PM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at R.S. Farmer Funeral Home, Inc.
