I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Ed's family during this difficult time. I had the privilege of working for Ed while attending Marshall University and I have always considered it a wonderful time in my life. He allowed me to take on responsibilities not normally given to a college student and I have always had a great appreciation for the opportunities he gave me.
Sincerely,
Keith Gibson

We camped with Ed on the Ohio River for several years and have many great memories of our times together. Ed was a wonderful person, always smiling, ready to ski, and loved the BBQ beef ribs. He shared his birthday with Brad and we stayed in touch that way through the years. We will miss him. Brad and Jeannie Blankenbeckler

Eds death leaves us with a heartache which will never heal, but beyond this sorrow his memory will be a comfort to us and to you. Each time we see lovely flower arrangements and beautiful pieces of crystal we will be reminded of Ed and his love of these things. Ed will live on in our memories and the wonderful times we spent together will never be forgotten.

My family and I are so saddened by your loss! I didn't see the announcement till it was too late to come to the funeral. My father, Ray Abraham, is in Florida visiting my brother and he, too, is saddened by Ed's passing. His sisters and brothers owned The Flower Nook in Williamson, WV and they all knew and loved Ed for years. They have all passed on. My Aunt Madeline Abraham spent many good times with Ed at the florists convention in Charlotte. Ed also did the flowers and coordinated my wedding in 1973. We all have had a special fondness for Ed and are so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a lovely, lovely, man.

Edward was a special friend to my mother, LaVerne Vallance. They shared a lot of common history and friendship through many years...that began at Spurlock's flowers and continued through his own store as she worked with him. Then, they shared space as neighbors on First Avenue. I appreciate his many conversations with her. He was willing to make the time to encourage her during her grieving after the deaths of my brother Robert and Dad in May, 2006. Because of his friendship with Mom, I was able to visit with him a little through the years as well. Edward was a very special person with a warmth and interest in others. I appreciate his special friendship with Mom. Edward will be missed by our family. We are praying for you folks during your time of grief!

We learned to dance, rock and roll with Elvis, together at my house with 2 other friends when we were in the 8th grade. We were together at Enslow and HEHS and Marshall. At every reunion I looked forward to a big smile and a hug from him. Such a good friend and a very special man. He was so talented with his flowers. My condolences to the family.

Ed was an irreplaceable part of my life for more than 40 years. He was a close friend of my father Manny, and as I grew older I found a confidante in Ed. He had grown to be more than a friend, dare I say like a brother that always gave me sound advice and listened to me with an open heart and a pure spirit. Although he were miles apart, all I had to do was pick up the phone and it was as if we had seen each other the day prior. The conversation flowed and was always filled with lots of laughter. My cousin Jessie and I visited Huntington a few years ago and we were invited to stay with Ed - no one could have asked for a more gracious host. We were planning on seeing each other once again this coming February in Palm Springs. His absence will be sorely felt. I will hold Ed's memory close to my heart until the end of my days.
