1960 - 2011
Michael "Mike" A. McDowell, 51, of Gallipolis, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 31, 2011. Born July 30, 1960, in Mason County, KY, he was the beloved son of Marceline Wheeler McDowell of Taylors, SC and the late Edgar Allen McDowell . Surviving in addition to his mother are three sisters, Julie Gainous and her husband Jeff, of Greenville, SC, Cynthia Ford and her husband James Jr. of Greenville, S.C., and Melissa McDowell of Taylors, S.C.; his niece Catherine Jackson and her husband Eric; nephews Michael Gainous, James Gainous, and Mitchell Vaughan; and great nephew Thomas Jackson. "Mikey" is also survived by his second family, the staff members of Gallipolis Developmental Center, Gallipolis, Ohio, where he resided for many years. Mike was predeceased by his grandparents, Stanley and Minnie Earle McDowell and Forrest and May Wheeler. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday January 6, 2012 at Plain View Baptist Church Maysville, KY by Pastor Albert Simmons with visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories Maysville, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hidden Treasure Christian School, 500 W. Lee Road, Taylors, S.C. 29687. Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Dear Marceline, I am so sorry for you loss. We enjoyed you and Edgar coming to our home in Washington so many years ago. Would love to see you again, please stop by my shop in Washington when you're down. My husband has liver cancer and we're living each day we have left. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for you and your families loss. Mickey will definately be missed by all his family here at GDC. He was always my favorite and will remain in my heart forever. Again I'm so sorry, and I will be praying for you guys.
