 Grace E. Canterbury, 93, of Chesapeake, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Bob Barbour. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Grace was born December 7, 1918 in Frenchton, WV daughter of the late John and Gertie Heavener Jeffries. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Huntington Industries. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Herbert Canterbury; six sisters; and seven brothers. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Jean and Jack Fry of Chesapeake, Ohio; two grandchildren Danny (Ronda) Fry and Jackie (Judge) Dolen both of Chesapeake, Ohio; two great grandchildren Brooke Dolen and Tristin Fry of Chesapeake, Ohio; a special niece Janie Keeney of Chesapeake, Ohio; and a host of other relatives. She was devout Christian and faithfully attended Union Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Grace or "Amazing Grace" as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was a quiet, humble, yet very strong and courageous person and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed by all. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Hall Funeral Home, 625 County Road 775, Proctorville, Ohio. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Apgar and the staff at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio for their compassionate care. My mom and dad have talked about "Grace" all my life. I've never heard a bad thing about her. She will be greatly missed.

Jean and family-so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember going to Grace for alterations some years ago. She was always kind and helpful and I enjoyed my trips to her house.

Grace will surely be missed. We remember all the Sundays she would come to John and Opals to visit and have dinner. We loved her so much and had many a good laughs together.
