Gregory Blaine FortnerGregory Blaine Fortner, 51, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away on July 29, 2012. He was born June 30, 1961 in Huntington, WV. He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Fortner of 28 years of Chesapeake, Ohio. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Ashlee Wheeler and son-in-law Tommy Wheeler of Kitts Hill, Ohio; a wonderful grandson Nathaniel Levi Wheeler that was the light of his pawpaw Greg's eyes; a son Austin Fortner of Chesapeake, Ohio; his father Lawrence Fortner of Chesapeake, Ohio; a special niece Erica Perrine and nephew-in-law Tim Perrine of Huntington, WV.; In addition to his family Greg leaves behind a special host of friends Mike Meachem, Paul Johnson, Brian Davis, Roger Cordle, and Neale Drake. Pallbearers are to be Mike Meachem, Bub Smith, Tim Perrine, Paul Johnson, Brian Davis, and Roger Cordle. He leaves behind many family and friends who will never forget him and who will ALWAYS love him. Greg was preceded in death by his mother Helen Faye Stacy Fortner and a brother Keith Fortner.. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. by Pastor Brady Lipscomb. The procession will leave the funeral home at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hall Funeral Home. Proctorville, Ohio. We just wanted to take a moment & thank everyone who came to the service & that has helped us all in so many ways. Our hearts are still broke but he wouldn't want us to be so sad. Its just hard because he was one of the best things to happen to all of us. Again, Thanks so much for what all of you have done & for being there when we needed someone the most. Also we would like to thank Halls for helping put together such a wonderful service.. He would have been really proud! 3

Uncle Greggie I am going to miss you like crazy. You were ALWAYS more of a dad to me than an uncle, I thank God that I got to have you in my life. You are a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. I know your up there watching over all of us. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND MISS YOU!!!! 3

We really don't know what to say, other than we are very,very sorry, our heart bleeds for each an everyone of u all, we are here for all, may God be with you all in a tragic time like this. If you all need anything, Ashlee an Tommy knows how to get ahold of us, no matter what it might be. God Bless, an the Good LORD will be with u all in every step of the way..RIP GREG, u will me missed, An is special little grand son, is looking for pawpaw on that cloud above is house may God grant the piece for each an everyone of you all.LOve ya

Daddy, I'm going to miss you so much! You were my world. I know we had our bad times but that is nothing.. I forgive you for anything & know that i'm always going to love you! I miss you so much right now & this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I just wish I had that last moment to see you & say everything I needed to say. You were taking away from to soon. Nathaniel loves you & will miss you so bad!I love you & please always watch over me!!! I hope I have made you proud to be your daughter.. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ashley and family so sorry to hear of your loss I know by know your probably tired of hearing time mends your broken heart, Well it will never completly mend but it does get somewhat easier. Everything will remind you of your dad but I think this is a way of never forgetting them. You take care of your little one now just tell him you love him everyday! Betty,Austin,and Ashlee Words cannot describe how hurt we are over losing such a good friend. Greg had a way about him that people meeting him for the first time,liked him and remembered him. His family and friends meant the world to him.You guys know that if you need anything,you can call us or stop by.We love you all .

I'm deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I always loved Greg to death. I'm ashamed to say it's been 20 years since we, (I & 3 of my 4 kids) came to your house but he was the same sweet guy I'd remembered. He'll not be forgotten.
