Across the years I will walk with you in deep green forests on shores of sand and when our time on earth is through in heaven too, you will have my hand. Melva Louise Erwin Parsons, 75, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. She was born January 13, 1937 in Huntington, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Lee Parsons; her parents John O. Erwin and Nema Edwards Erwin Billups; brother Richard Erwin; and her grandson Charles Clifton Woodyard. She is survived by her six children Kimberly Parsons Taylor of Milton, WV, Verlena Parsons McComas, Bonnie Parsons Roark, Katherine Parsons Marsh, Eddie (Laura) Parsons all of Proctorville, Ohio, and Sharon Rose Parsons of Dallas Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her brother Harvey Lee (Mary) Erwin; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Melva was a Marshall University graduate and worked as a teacher at the Southwestern Headstart where she retired from after 37 years of service. She also worked at Huntington Floral as a designer as needed during the holidays. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital and the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Charles Norris. Burial will follow in Ronks Cemetery, Milton, WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Hall Funeral Home. We love and miss you mommy forever and always. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

I went to school with Melva at Milton High School. She was a good friend. I also knew Ed. Melva was always outgoing and caring for others. I will always remember her and keep her family in my thoughts and prayers.
