1976 - 2012

Jason T WalfordJason Theron Walford, age 35, passed away peacefully among family and friends on Monday September 24th, 2012, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born October 6, 1976 in Santa Clara, California, to Nestor Nino and Patricia Pat Walford. He was one of the first children to survive childhood leukemia with the generous love and support of the people of Santa Cruz, California, a community in which he was a part for much of his life. He was an accomplished Special Olympian with a great sense of humor, and a proud team-member of the Kerrville Roadrunners, all of whom will cherish his memory.

Jason is survived by his father Nino, his mother Pat, his brother Nestor and his family, as well as many other family-members and friends. He will live on in many peoples hearts and will be greatly missed.

Private family services at a later date.

Jason has made a beautiful impact on my life. His passion for his Olympics. His continual efforts to improve. His questioning of why. His shy humor we shared frequently. His wonderful personality and desire to please his parents and others. Pat, Jason was always concerned about all you have to do and wanted to do all he could to help you. The last successes he seemed so pleased with. It is sad to lose Jason. But I'm thankful he no longer has to struggle nor has the question of why it was so easy for others when he worked so hard. Jason surely is in Heaven with only joy! I will miss him and pray your hearts will be comforted as time passes. (Thank you for letting me be a part of his life as his occupational therapist and FRIEND!)

Although my husband and I have only known Jason for a short time through our grandaughter, Cynthia, we could see that at every practice and event he was truly the torch bearer and inspiration to all his fellow Roadrunner athletes. We both feel blessed for those opportunities to watch him always give 100% and will not forget his winning spirit. Our prayers are with Jason's family and his extended Roadrunner "family".
