Chester Carpenter passed away at the young age of 93 on November 23, 2012, after a lengthy hospitalization due to a tractor accident. He was born on January 29, 1919, to Bosse and Minnie Carpenter, and he was one of ten children. Chester served our country in the South Pacific during World War II, and he served our Lord for many years as a Baptist Minister until retirement.
Chester is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, his wife, Wanda Murline Carpenter to whom he was married for over 60 years and his son, Earnest Carpenter.
He is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Lymbery and husband, Don of Lufkin, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Lynell Carpenter of Silsbee, Texas, the surviving spouse of Earnest H. Carpenter; four grandchildren: Eddie Carpenter of Silsbee, Texas, Wendy Harper of Silsbee, Texas, Rayna Smith and husband, Koyte of Lufkin, Texas, Taylor Lymbery and wife, Rachel of Denton, Texas; five great grandchildren: Blake Carpenter, Karie Carpenter, Sarah Harper, Jakob Smith and Jayla Smith, and one great great grandson, Weston Carpenter.
His favorite pastime was fishing, as he was an avid fisherman. Chester Carpenter was a simple man of modest means as worldly possessions were not coveted by him, but he had the heart and soul of the richest of us all. He was a loving and caring husband, and a wonderful father, who led by example. During his life, he touched so many peoples lives, and he enjoyed his family and friends and life, itself, to its fullest. He performed many marriages, at last count totaling over one hundred of them, during his days as a pastor. He always had a giving heart, a smile for everyone, a kind word and a helping hand&he was loved by his family, friends, neighbors and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Viewing for Chester Carpenter will be held on Saturday, December 1st at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee, Texas from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A graveside celebration of his life and burial will be at the Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas on Sunday, December 2nd at 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited to attend to say goodbye, and celebrate his life.
