Funeral services for Leon Joseph Battaglia, 80, of Spurger will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Battaglia died November 24, 2012 at his residence.
Leon was a native of Franklin, Louisiana and lived in Texas for most of his life. He had been a resident of Spurger for 13 years. He had worked for the U S Postal Service and in construction. He served his country with the United States Air Force.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Richusa Battaglio; son Rusty Whitney and grandson Austin Whitney.
Survivors include wife Shirley Battaglia of Spurger; daughters Sissy MLakar of Grand Mesa, CO, Christine Whitney of Gilcrest, TX and Jolene Zornoza and husband David of Spurger; sister Madeline Arceneaux and husband Sidney of Port Arthur; brother Michael Battaglio and wife Angie of Wimberly, TX, Johnnie Battaglio and wife Olivia of Fannett, TX and Thomas Battaglio of Port Arthur; grandchildren Danille Mahan of Lumberton, Chad Whitney of Spurger, Sherry MLakar of Stephenville, TX, Rebecca Whitney of Gonzales, LA, Natalie and Sabrina Zornoza both of Spurger, John MLakar, Jr. of Colorado and Jacob Whitney of Gonzales, LA and great grandchildren Aidan Mahan and Peyton Mahan both of Lumberton.
