Loretta Maynard Layman Sis, 73, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. She was born September 11, 1939 in Wayne, WV daughter of the late Kiah and Irene Thacker Maynard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gene Layman; and a sister June Snyder. She is survived by one son Don (Margi) Layman of Proctorville, Ohio; one daughter Sandy (Roger) Smith of Sunset Beach, NC; four grandchildren Mary Loretta (Timothy) Blake, Brad (Cortni) Layman, J.B. Smith all of Proctorville, Ohio and John David Warren- Smith of Huntington; three step grandchildren Bo, Tiffany and Tony Smith all of Huntington, WV; six great grandchildren Tyler and Jacob Blake of Proctorville, Ohio, Dakota, Abigail and Isabel Warren-Smith of Chesapeake, Ohio and Kelsey Warren- Smith of Huntington, WV; three brothers Eldon (Lucy) Maynard, Kenneth (Chris) Maynard both of Chesapeake, Ohio and Walter Maynard of Proctorville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Proctorville, Ohio. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio by Pastor Ronnie Tyree. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice House of Huntington in memory of Loretta. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. The entire Layman family, I am so sorry to hear about Loretta. She was a wonderful person and I enjoyed going to church with her all those wonderful years at ALBC. God has another angel to fill that choir and always remember those good times and I pray you find peace knowning she is in God's arms.

I fondly remember her humor, her smile and her laughter as we were growing up in Proctorville. Loretta certainly touched Kathy's and my lives in a way neither of us will ever forget.
