He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Lindsey, his father, Arthur Denton 'Red' Lindsey sheriff of Hardin County 1942-1953; mother Edna Musgrove Lindsey, and two sisters Verda Mae Lindsey Turner and Donalene Lindsey Dudley.

Bevil is survived by one daughter, Donna Carol Lindsey Jackson and husband Donald Jackson of Nederland; grandchildren Donald 'Trey' Jackson and girlfriend Jennifer McDonald of Groves, Matt Jackson and wife Megan Sparks Jackson of Port Neches, Brad Jackson and girlfriend Alexandra Romano of Groves and, Nicole Jackson and boyfriend Brandon Gary, of Nederland. He is also survived by two nieces, Barbara Cox of Hixson, Tennesee; Beverly Leavings of Kirbyville; and several great nieces and nephews.

Bevil always wanted to be remembered by the Ralph Waldo Emerson's words of 'What is Success?'

What is Success?

Ralph Waldo Emerson

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.

In his family's mind, he achieved this goal. He will be remembered forever.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 at Farmer's Funeral Home in Silsbee. A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Friday, January 11, 2013 at R S Farmer's Memorial Cemetery.

I am thankful for the many wonderful memories at Warren Junior High School. Mr. Lindsey was the most wonderful and best science teacher I ever had. He made learning fun. His students were all blessed to have had him as their teacher!

I remember a very special teacher/parent conference regarding my child. Mr Lindsey made a statement that stuck in my mind. He smiled and said "I have never met a child who knew a little bit about so many things". That was such a compliment to my son who frequently felt inferior to his peers but gained respect from such an inspiring educator. Such a kind heart who found the best in every child. He was always our favorite teacher.

Mr. Lindsey was a wonderful educator. I was very fortunate to have him as a teacher in Jr. High at Warren ISD. He made learning so interesting and fun. He also taught our 2 children at Silsbee Elementary School. He will be missed by many.

I loved you then and now.('65-'68) Warren. You were always an inspiration and I remember your great stories just like it was yesterday not the late 60's. You awoke my love for science and medicine. I was a chemistry major at Lamar U and went on to become a Texas Certified Pharmacy Tech and a mother. You were always a gentleman and the epitome of success. Rest in Peace. Heaven is a wonderful place.

Even though science wasn't my favorite subject, Mr. Lindsey's class was everyone's favorite class! There is no doubt that the world is a better place because of Mr. LIndsey!

I was certainly saddened to learn about Bevil's passing. As a public school teacher and relative, I always felt very proud when I would return to my parents home and read and hear about all of his achievements with his students. I wish I could have known him personally! My heart goes out to his family. I know he will be missed by many! ~Doris Lindsey Carpenter Weimar, TX (Kountze)

Donna and family-- I was lucky enough to have your father as my teacher in 5th grade science. What a wonderful educator and person. He was so kind and funny, and truly inspired curiosity in his students. He will be missed, but so many of us were forever changed by his mentoring, that his legacy will live on forever. Thank you for sharing him with us!

Donna, I can't tell you how much I loved your dad. My children were just sicken when they heard about his passing. He was so special in every way. He will live on in the memories of some many many people. He was also there for me once when I was going through a hard time and I will never forget him. You are a lucky daughter. I love you.

What a wonderful educator! He touched many lives and made learning fun. He will surely be missed, but he certainly achieved success and made many lives better just from knowing him. Ella Mae Chisum, a former Saratoga student
