Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Friday at Farmer Funeral Home.

Mrs. McInnis died January 17, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Thicket, Joyce currently lived in Silsbee. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Houston as a registered nurse. Joyce began her nursing career as a refinery nurse at Ideco, later at Atlantic Richfield Co and finally retiring from British Petroleum. After retirement, she and Poodle moved to Fred and opened McInnis Hardware store. Joyce worked side by side with Poodle, and after his death, ran the store for many more years. She was adored by her customers and all who knew her. After selling the store, Joyce moved to Silsbee and began working with her daughter at First Baptist Church Academy, where she was lovingly known as 'Mawmaw'.

Mrs. McInnis is preceded in death by her husband of more than 46 years, W A 'Poodle' McInnis, parents Van Petty and Julia Dyson Brackin and sister Vanitta McInnis.

Survivors include her son Robert Van 'Bobby' McInnis of Beaumont; daughter-in-law Trudy McInnis of Beaumont; daughter Dana Lea Hancock and husband Mike of Silsbee; granddaughters Jillian McInnis Howard and husband Joseph Howard of Nederland, Michaela Hancock and Dani Hancock, both of Silsbee and four great grandchildren.

Joyce was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Grafitti 2 Fund, 350 Hwy 96 South, Silsbee TX 77656.

Dana & Bobby and families, Joyce was such a fine lady and a wonderful friend to so many people. She was always there to help, no matter the problem. I remember she & Vanitta going to town every Friday (I think). They were so close and always enjoyed each other's company. We should all be so close with our siblings! I didn't see Joyce often, but when I did I always got a hug! She was precious. Stay strong in the days to come. You have a lifetime of memories of MawMaw to hold you up when you need them.

Dana, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother. My late husband, Bert, thought so much of your Mother and had so many fond memories of your parents when they had the store in Fred. He visited there quite often. He also would stop by her home in Silsbee and take her some of his wonderful tomatoes and his mustard greens. You and your family will be in my prayers in the coming days.

Another beautiful angel for Lord. Dani I'm so sorry for your loss and pain, I won't tell you that it will get either will get better for we never fill the place that empties when our mothers leave. The pain is soften by the fact that we will see them again with no pain and only love on their wonderful faces. Call me if you ever ever need to talk. I love you.

Dana and Family, Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Your Mother was truly one of a kind! She was loved dearly by her hometown folks here in Fred. Be comforted in the fact she is now in heaven with her beloved "Poodle" and she was welcomed with open arms by others from the Fred area.

I will greatly miss seeing Mawmaw at the Academy everyday. She helped to make everyone that walked through that door feel welcome, wether it was a parent or a teacher she always had a smile and something nice to say.
