David Lee Day Sr. 72, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 6, 2013. He was an ordained minister and was a member and deacon of Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Chesapeake, Ohio. He was born July 16, 1940, at home on Bear Creek, Lawrence County, Ohio, son of the late David Edward and Annel Lee Day. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Dawn Day. David was a retired cast iron worker of Myers Foundry, and construction worker for Bradleys Construction. He was a veteran of U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene Fern Day; two sons David Lee Jr. (Charlene) of Spiro, OK, Steven Edward (Debbie) of Huntington, WV; a daughter, Shirley Ann (Ryan) Freeman of Scottown, OH; nine grandchildren: Crystal Reynolds, David Day III, Cassey (Brad) Fraley, Catherine (Randy) Oostdyk, Kevin (Sarah) Day, Ryan (Becky) Freeman, Jacqueline Day, Steven Day II, Aaron Ely Day, and two additional grandchildren in Europe; 24 great-grandchildren, one sister, Edna Dennison, and one brother Franklin Day both of Lawrence County. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Mark Roach. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be in Freeman Family Cemetery, Scottown, OH. Proctorville VFW Post #6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
