Mae Hutto Rhodes Gibbs Funeral services for Mae Hutto Rhodes Gibbs, 75, of Fred will be 2:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gibbs died April 18, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Mae was born June 13, 1937 to Annie Bell and Amos Hutto. She was a lifelong resident of Fred and retired from Warren ISD, where she worked as a secretary at Fred Elementary. Mae loved her work and the children at Fred Elementary and they loved her in return. She will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father of her children, James Ray Rhodes; sister Jean Watts; brother Pat Hutto and son-in-law Mark Taylor.

Survivors include her husband Jack Gibbs of Fred; son Randy Rhodes and wife Brenda of Fred; step-sons Steve Gibbs and wife Rhonda of Pt Neches and Kent Gibbs of Pt Arthur; daughters Bonnie Rhodes Taylor of Houma, LA and Barbara Rhodes of Warren; step-daughters Cathy Brenner and husband Bill of Centerville and Stacey Phillips of Georgetown; sisters Ruby Stewart and Oneta Harris and husband Thomas, both of Fred; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

LOVE; PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS TO ALL OF MAE'S FAMILY. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL; KIND AND CARING PERSON NOT ONLY TO HER FAMILY, ESPECIALLY JACK, BUT TO ALL HER FRIENDS...WILL BE MISSED SO MUCH BECAUSE SHE HAD TOUCHED SO MANY PEOPLE IN SOME WAY OR THE OTHER. Barbara, Bonnie and Randy I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent as special as Mae is a devastating blow. She was one of the rare truly sweet souls god blessed all those that knew her. The whole community grieves with you. Know we are here. You only have to reach out and any of us will reach back. Love you guys.
