Fleeta Mae Greene, 72, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio after a short illness. She was born March 28, 1941. She was the daughter of Christine (Wade) Short of Crown City, Ohio and her step father the late Clancy Short. Fleeta grew up in the Crown City area. She graduated from Fairland High School in Proctorville. Fleeta made a lifelong career as a seamstress. She worked 21 years for Huntington Industries Dress Factory in Huntington, WV from 1962-1983. Later, she worked for Haskins-Tanner Clothing Company in Gallipolis for 15 years from 1985 until 2000. She also worked for Bernadines in Gallipolis from 2000 until her retirement 2004. Fleeta was an exceptional seamstress having many customers coming back again and again to have alternations done to their clothing by her personal touch. In her earlier years, Fleeta attended Federal Creek Methodist Church and later she attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Gallipolis. She is survived by her loving husband, Woodford Leon Greene of Gallipolis; her mother Christine (Wade) Short; step children Woodford Woody Greene and his fiancée Melissa Lawrence of Findlay, Ohio, Kristina (Jeffery) Brashear of Katy, TX and John (Stephanie) Greene of Gallipolis, Ohio; nine grandchildren Christian, Justin, Caleb, Jordan and Chloe Greene of Pensacola, FL, Jarrett and Aaron Brashear of Katy, TX, Aiden Greene and Bradley Ditty of Gallipolis, Ohio; six brothers and sisters Juanita (Herman) Rossiter of Crown City, Ohio, Shirley Greene of Crown City, Ohio, Bernard William Bowen of Scottown, Ohio, Roger (Joyce) Short of Scottown, Ohio, Paul (Dorothy) Short of Crown City, Ohio and Marjorie (Gary) Mathney of Proctorville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one brother Clancy Bub Short. Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio with Rev. Phillip Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. At Fleetas request there will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be Paul Short, Jr., Tivis Short, Bernie Allen Short, Chad Simpson, John Greene and Woodford Woody Greene. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Sanders. Fleeta was a great employee and even a better person. We all will miss her beatiful smile, and the kindness she showed to everyone. My condolemces go to you Leon and to the rest of the family. Rest in Peace.
