Alfred Ellis, 72, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Monday, August 12, 2013 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. He was born on January 2, 1941 to the late Charles and Lilly Nance Ellis. He was retired from CSX and a member of Christ Community Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ellis; a brother Lealand; a sister Frances; and a grandson Robert Young. He is survived by two daughters Tammi (Mike) Spurlock of Barboursville, WV and Kathy (David) Lemley; one son Gary (Ronda) Ellis of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; and the mother of his three children Edna Ellis; two step children Lena Spears and Gary (Mary) Spears all of Proctorville, Ohio; grandchildren Brittanie, Corey and Madison Lemley; step grandchildren Cory and Alexis Spears, and Brianna McComas; step great grandchild, Braleigh; two brothers and sisters-in-law Charles (Betty) Ellis of Lavalette, WV and Kenneth (Martha) Ellis of Choctaw, OK; several nieces and nephews as well as many close friends. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Dr. Kermit Taylor. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Hall Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.
