1954 - 2013

Steve Joe DanfordSteve Joe Danford, 59, of Crown City, Ohio passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at his daughters home, surrounded by all his favorite people. Steve was born January 26, 1954 in Huntington, WV son of the Ella Danford of Huntington, WV and the late Richard Danford. Steve worked several construction jobs over the span on his life and was always an avid gardener. He taught his children to love the outdoors and animals with endless hours of National Geographic and nature shows, which they begrudgingly watched and didnt appreciate until they reached adulthood. He taught us how to plant seeds and the miracle and excitement of watching something grow. He loved to cook and REALLY loved to eat. He was always firing up the grill and trying to force feed everyone that crossed his doorsteps. The holidays and family cookouts were some of his favorite times and our best memories. Steve took great pride in his children and grandchildren. When his son Jason joined the military, it was the proudest moment of his life. He carried Jasons 82nd Airborne coin in his pocket from the time he got it, in around 2000, until his passing. The grandkids fascinated him with their technology and their laptops, he just didnt think it was possible to be able to check WSAZ whenever someone wanted to. In addition to his father, Richard, he was preceded in death by his brother David Ji; and his longtime companion and favorite child Miller his labrador mix. In addition to his mother Ella; he is survived by his daughter Stefanie (Robert) Smith; son Jason (Rhonda) Danford, grandchildren and his little snippers Josie Harrison, Kylie Haislop, Chandler Danford and Caleb Danford; several siblings, Tom (Marilyn) Danford, Carl Danford, Marilyn Trooster, Bob Danford, Harvey Danford, Pat Danford and Carol Danford. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Per Steves wishes there will be a private burial at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Steve has always been one of those people who got under your skin & into your heart very quickly. He got into mine in 1974. He was so good at so many things.. too many to list. The most important things in his life were his two children & he love them fiercely, dearly, & most loyally! He could be the best friend you ever had, & if you were, he would do anything for you. He had such a strong endearing personality. And, once you met him, you could never forget him. He thrived in the outdoors. He loved planting & growing anything & everything. He loved to be the first one to drive thru a fresh snow & to leave his tracks first. He will always be in my heart & has really left an impact on many lives. He suffered long, was cared for greatly & very well by his daughter & son. He is suffering no more. He is with Mom & Dad who have gone on before him.. & I bet they are having a great time catching up!
