Virginia Helton Wolfe, of Proctorville, formerly of Ironton, beloved wife of Laurence H. Wolfe for 65 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She was 85 and died from complications of Parkinsons disease. Survivors in addition to her husband include children Charles Wolfe (Susan), of Frankfort, Ky.; Rena Wolfe Allen (Charles Michael), of Proctorville, and the Rev. William D. Wolfe (Carol), of Colorado Springs. She also is survived by seven grandchildren: Jennifer Allen Graham (Lines), and Chad Allen (Patricia), both of Proctorville; Kecia Wolfe Hodges (Kevin) and David C. Wolfe, of Colorado Springs; Elizabeth Wolfe, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Zachary H. Wolfe (Kara), of Owings Mills, Md., and Thomas L. Wolfe, of Frankfort, Ky. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Grace, Chase and J.C. Allen, and Mallory Graham, all of Proctorville, and Jesse and Reagan Hodges, of Colorado Springs; a sister, Cynthia Lou Whitt, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Paintsville, Ky., and a host of nieces and nephews. Virginia was born Dec. 5, 1927, at Oil Springs in Johnson County, Ky., the fifth of six children of Dewey Helton Sr. and Sue Nettie Caudill Helton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings Irene Vance, Dewey Helton Jr., John C. Helton and George Helton. Virginia retired from J.C. Penney Co., having worked in the business offices of Penney stores in Marietta, Zanesville and Ironton, Ohio. She and Laurence were longtime members of First Baptist Church, Ironton, but in recent years had been members of Beulah Baptist Church, in Proctorville. Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 12 noon Friday, September 6, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville with Dr. Kevin Bloomfield and Rev. William Wolfe officiating. Visitation will begin at 10am on Friday, September 6, 2013 Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Johnson County, KY. The family expresses its appreciation for the kindness of caregiver Ruth Nance, the nurses of Hospice of Huntington, and the staff of The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Contributions in Virginias memory may be made to Hospice of Huntington and to the Beulah Baptist Church building fund. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall

Mr. Wolfe, I was sorry to hear about the passing of Virginia. She was always so nice to me back when I would contact you at home and the few times I had the pleasure of meeting her. I hope you know you and your family are in my prayers. I appreciate you so much as does my mom and wish you strength during this time. Jesse
