Carolyn Rice Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1937 - 2013 Funeral services for Carolyn Rice, 76, of Bryan will be 10:00 am, Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Warren United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 9:00 am Friday at the church. Mrs. Rice died October 9, 2013 at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. A native of El Paso, Carolyn was a longtime residence of Hardin and Tyler counties. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked as Director of Nurses at Silsbee Doctor's Hospital and at several other hospitals in this area. Carolyn also worked as Director of ER at Humana Hospital in Bryan. Mrs. Rice is survived by sons Robert Rice and wife Wanda of Honey Island and David Rice and wife Rhonda of Bryan; daughters Cherry Lynn Rivers and husband David of Calhoun LA, Johanna Pate and husband John of Alexandria LA, Melinda Frye and husband Jack of Kountze and Cindy Reynolds and husband Brian of Austin; brothers Johnny Williams of Vidor and Frank Williams of Jasper; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs.Rice gave me my first job at Silsbee Drs. Hospital. She was so much help. I will always be grateful to her. I have been in the medical field now since 1974. The medical field has lost a wonderful nurse.

So sorry to learn of Mrs. Rice's death. She gave me my first job in the health care field as a nurse aide. That was my senior year in high school. I loved the experience so much I decided to go to nursing school after graduation. I will never forget her kindness.

My sincere sympathy for the loss of Mrs. Rice. My mother (Anita Keown)worked at Silsbee Doctors Hospital with her. She was a very sweet woman. May God grant you all peace and comfort during this time.
