1924 - 2013

Jewel  HartmanJewel Poppie Hartman, beloved of his family and friends, passed away Monday October 21, 2013 at his home at the age of 89. A lifelong resident of Silsbee, he was born here on April 25, 1924. After high school, at age 18 he left to join the Army in 1943, serving for three years in Europe during WWII. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Silsbee Masonic Lodge. He retired as a Supervisor in the finishing and shipping department from the paper mill in Evadale in1986. A masterful gardener, he shared his knowledge and harvests freely; loved camping, hunting and fishing, and was happiest when spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Hartman; by his wife of 53 years, Eva Mae Pat Hartman; brothers Walter Moulder, Alfred Moulder, Monroe Hartman, Bill Hartman, Milton Cheshire; and sister Alma Potts.

Survivors include wife Syble Dulaney Hartman, son Darrell and wife Karen Hartman of Georgetown, Texas; son Perry and wife Laurine Hartman of Vidor, Texas; and daughter Tabatha Hartman Matlock and husband Mark of Shreveport, Louisiana and grandchildren Nicole Nanyes, Christopher Hartman, Natalie Humphrey, Jaclyn Kruzie, Eric Hartman, Hilary Nunn, Lauren Patrick, Erin Brunson, Kenneth Cain, Sariah Hartman, Tanner Brunson, Kalli Matlock, and Ainsley Matlock and 16 Great-granchildren. Also daughters Darlene Dulaney Aucoin and husband ed, and Alicia Ann Dulaney Courville and husband Tony all of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; grandchildren Bobby Aucoin, Shannon Burt, Tony James Courville, Brennan Courville, Regan Courville and 14 Great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday October 25, 5-8 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee, with funeral services Saturday, October 26 at 11a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on FM 418 outside of Silsbee. He will be laid to rest in Resthaven Cemetery.

to our cousins the Hartmans and Syble: what a handsome picture of Jewel; Every time i saw Jewel he always asked about how Larry was doing after his accident. Larry and I are not able to come to funerals lately, but we send much love to all of you from my mom, Myrtle Jean and her family; we went through what you guys are going through three years ago and it is difficult; mother and Jewel were close cousins; i call them phone buddies; mother will sorely miss their visits. God bless you all
