Judy; I was shocked to see the news of Jerry's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am good friends with his cousin Karen Jarrell Hysell. My sister had Jerry as a teacher but he was lucky not to have had me! May your memories be of comfort to you in your times of sorrow.

I didn't meet Jerry until sixth grade when Chesapeake Schools consolidated. We probably shared most of our classes from then on til graduation. We were as close as two very shy friends could be. he probably had classes from my mother, Edith Woodard. He defeated me at least twice to be the spelling champ. Then we graduated and didn't see each other again until my Nathan was in his class. By this time, we were, living on Jarrell's Hill where Jerry also swore he had seen a unicorn. Nate liked Mr. Jarrell. Mr. Jarrell liked Nate and he asked about Nate long after Nate had gone on to OSU.I never think of Jerry without smiling.

I'm not sure he will be able to make it but he loves you a great deal. He said he feesl bad because you've always came to the hospital to see him and he wants to be there for you. If he can't make it, please understand. Love you.

I've known Jerry since we were just kids. Went to church & school together. He was always a kind sweet person with a smile on his face. My sympathy to all of his family!
