Funeral services for Juanita Johnson Simmons, 93, of Silsbee will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 30, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Silsbee with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Friday at the Simmons' residence, 1550 Hwy 418 West in Silsbee.
Mrs. Simmons passed away November 26, 2013 at her residence.
Born October 4, 1920 in San Augustine County (Bland Lake Community) to William Edward and Ida Salutte Booth Johnson, Juanita lived in Silsbee for over 67 years. She was co-owner of Simmons Radio & Appliances, Simmons Motor Company, and numerous other family owned enterprises. She attended Stephen F. Austin University and was an Eastern Star. Mrs. Simmons was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Silsbee and was involved in church activities throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a loving wife, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Ida Booth Johnson, brothers Charles Johnson, Alwyn Johnson and John Johnson, sisters Thelma Johnson, Pauline McDaniel and twin sister Elfrieda Rogers and nieces Martha Nell Johnson and Wylma Jean Renfroe.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 73 years, Elie M. Simmons of Silsbee; nieces Evva Dene Dymke of San Augustine, Avis Joy Carruth of Silsbee, Nancy Carol Lynch of San Augustine, Johnida Jan Evans of San Antonio and Charla Elaine Thompson of Trinity and nephews Charles Edward Rogers and William Lee 'Bub' Johnson, both of San Augustine.
